Will VTHacks 12 be in person?
Yes - VTHacks 12 will be hosted in person at Data & Decision Sciences Building @ Virginia Tech. Not from Blacksburg? We offer travel reimbursements! More info coming soon.
How much does it cost to participate in VTHacks?
Nothing. VTHacks is completely free to attend for all students.
I’m a first-year student - can I participate?
Yes! We welcome students of all skill levels to participate. We’ll be hosting a number of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level workshops throughout the weekend for your benefit. Some prizes will also be exclusively for beginner hackers.
I don’t study CS. What about me?
VTHacks is open to all students, including those from non-technical backgrounds. We’ll be hosting a number of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level workshops throughout the weekend for your benefit. You will also have full access to a mentor for the duration of VThacks.
I’m not a Virginia Tech student. Can I still attend?
Yes, VTHacks welcomes students from all colleges and universities. We offer travel reimbursements and may even be sending a bus to your campus! More info coming soon.
36 hours!? Where do I sleep?
We will have sleeping arrangements available for those that need it. Please be sure to indicate this when you register.
Do I register with my team?
Each member of your team will need to register individually. We’ll have you specify your team later in the weekend.
What if I don’t have a team?
Our discord (below) has a channel specifically for this! We will also offer a few hours between check-in and kickoff to finalize who you want to work with. You are also more than welcome to submit a project solo.
Does everyone who registers get in to VTHacks?
We expect that everyone who registers can get in. However, sometimes more hackers sign up than we can admit. Hackers are accepted on a rolling basis until September 09. You will be notified via email about your registration status.
